MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ,
Oct 30, 2012 -
Congressman Chris Smith (NJ-04) visited areas in Monmouth and Ocean counties devastated by Hurricane Sandy, joining New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and federal, state, county and municipal emergency responders in Belmar. Smith also visited other sites in his district including Point Pleasant Beach and plans to go to other sites Wednesday.
"Hurricane Sandy has brought a level of destruction I’ve never seen," Smith said. "There are homes off their foundations and boats in the streets. There is rubble everywhere. There are people who need help. There is no time to waste. With winter months fast approaching we must look to recovery and rebuilding as fast as we can.
“If I can be of assistance to residents, businesses or organizations in my district, people should call my office," Smith said.
Information can be found at Smith's hurricane information page at http://chrissmith.house.gov/hurricane/ which will be updated regularly, and by calling his district offices at (609) 585-7878 or (732) 350-2300.
Smith represents large areas of the Jersey Shore in Monmouth and Ocean Counties, plus large areas along the Delaware River from Trenton and Hamilton in Mercer County south to Burlington City in Burlington County.
