Agreed to by the U.S. House of Representatives on September 27, 1996
Calls upon:
- the Government of the Russian Federation to adhere to the provisions of the troop withdrawal agreement signed on October 21, 1994 (according to which Russia would withdraw its military forces from Moldova within three years);
- all of Moldova's neighboring countries to recognize the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova;
- the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe to continue efforts in resolving differences between the Moldovan Government and the authorities of the Transdniestria region (and welcomes the offer by the Ukrainian Government to assist in such efforts); and
- the Secretary of State to secure removal of Russian forces from Moldova.
Welcomes recent statements by the Administration supporting Moldova's territorial integrity.
