The Asbury Park Press ran the following story, which cited Congressman Chris Smith's efforts to protect the environment:

Three Republicans from the Garden State are the greenest GOP members on Capitol Hill.

That’s according to Republicans for Environmental Protection, a group of pro-environment elected officials.

The group's legislative scorecard, released today, shows that Reps. Leonard Lance of Clinton Township, Frank LoBiondo of Ventnor and Christopher Smith of Hamilton got the maximum
score among all Republicans.

They each scored 103 points based on votes they cast on the House floor. GOP members were judged on 10 votes in the Senate and 18 in the House. The legislation ranged from wildlife conservation to climate change to funding bills for environmental programs and services.

“We are proud of the accomplishments of  Congressmen Lance, LoBiondo, and Smith, but we are not surprised,” the group’s president, Rob Sisson, said in a statement. “New Jersey's Republican House delegation regularly outperforms the rest of the nation in supporting the strongest possible protections for public health and for our natural heritage.”
