  • Congressman Smith is very proud that the national winners of a stock market competition came from High Technology High in Lincroft, N.J..

Students from the High Technology High School in Lincroft, N.J. visited Congressman Chris Smith (NJ-04) June 20 in his Washington office, where he congratulated them for being first place winners in Securities Industry and Financial Markets Associatio'sn “Stock Market Game – Capitol Hill Challenge.” The SIMFA Foundation started the stock market game in 2004, a program which highlights financial literacy and exposes students to Congress. The winning students from High Technology High are Arun Kalyanaraman, Timothy Lou, and Matthew Koutsoutis.
The 14-week competition among teams of high school students is organized by Congressional district and state. Student teams invest a hypothetical $100,000 in listed stocks, bonds and mutual funds while simultaneously learning the value of saving and investing as they work together to maximize the return of their portfolio. High Technology High School took first place after producing a portfolio value of $321,175.12
