Congressman Chris Smith (NJ-04), Chairman of the House congressional panel that oversees global human rights, and author of the landmark law, the Trafficking Victims Protection Act, appeared on the ABC daytime show Katie with host Katie Couric, and other media outlets such as CNN and BBC to discuss sex trafficking.

Smith held a hearing this week entitled “Lessons Learned from Super Bowl Preparations: Preventing International Human Trafficking at Major Sporting Events,” featuring witnesses from the U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security and the State Department, as well as airline, train and non-government organization (NGOs) anti-trafficking advocates and a human trafficking victim. Katie! - This weekend, about 400,000 people will descend on the New York City area for the Super Bowl. What you might not know is while big sporting events might bring big bucks for the community, it may also bring big trouble in the form of sex trafficking.
