“According to the International Energy Agency, sub-Saharan Africa is rich in energy resources, but very poor in energy supply,” said Smith (NJ-04), chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee’s Africa Subcommittee. “Our hearing will look at how the Electrify Africa Act and the Administration’s Power Africa program can supplement private energy projects to help bring electric power to more people in Africa, lifting standards of living across the continent. A more prosperous Africa means better trading partners.”
