What some believe amounts to genocide against religious and ethnic groups living in areas of Syria and Iraq now controlled by the Islamic State of al-Sham, also known as ISIS, was the topic of a House hearing of the Subcommittee on Africa, Global Health, Global Human Rights and International Organizations chaired by U.S. Rep. Chris Smith (NJ-04).
“Fulfilling the Humanitarian Imperative: Assisting Victims of ISIS Violence,” is the title of the hearing set to be held on Wednesday Dec. 9.
