Hearing set for Tues., May 20Rep. Smith to co-chair bipartisan hearing on Worldwide Persecution of Jews

Congressman Chris Smith (R-NJ)and Congressman Jim McGovern (D-MA) will co-chair a congressional hearing of the Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission (TLHRC) to conduct a global review of antisemitism, including prevalence, forms of antisemitism in various parts of the world, and governmental responses to antisemitism, as well as an assessment of the effectiveness of government policies to combat antisemitism, and how to address foreign governments that foster antisemitism.

Advocacy and research organizations have released recent reports documenting significant increases in antisemitism in many countries of the world, including the U.S. The American Jewish Committee, the Anti-Defamation League, the Combat Antisemitism Movement, Tel Aviv University and others have issued reports.
